It Begins with YOU!

SHERO on Spirituality: 

Whether your belief ends in -ian, -im, -ology, -ism, etc know this.. no matter what you choose own it and be it... not passively but actively...do not just pick and choose bits and pieces as it suits you and excludes others in turn. Be extremely aware that anything you believe in that represents constructive and interdependent thinking with service to ALL humanity becomes null and void the minute you raise your hand against another based on your own ego, insecurities, lacking, manipulation and fear. We ALL have the capacity to love and co-exist. We also have the capacity to hate and destroy. YOU decide which direction you choose to take humanity starting from your own thoughts and actions. This will in turn have a rippling effect towards your family, your community until ultimately it reaches all of humanity. It begins with YOU!... Choose LOVE!

Let your Spirit Grow and Expand.. here is how...

SHERO on Spirituality: 

Be prepared to connect with others on a daily basis. It does not matter what their background is. Never judge and label a person from the second you meet them based on others beliefs and labels. You will be doing a great disservice to yourself and shutting down the opportunity to connect and bridge worlds and who knows what other opportunities. You will never know if you do not try. Sometimes when you least expect it you may meet someone that will give you insight into a situation or help you expand on what you already know. In order to receive the information your heart has to be open and you must be living in the moment. Everything happens for a reason and in the right time place and sequence. Sometimes it can happen when you are sharing the elevator with someone. Sometimes it can happen when you are walking down the same street you have been walking for many years. Sometimes it can happen when you take a taxi (where you normally never do) and you find that the taxi driver is not even the taxi driver he is just helping out his brother for that day... Incredible world we live in.

There are over 7 billion of us.. what an amazing tribe we are!

SHERO on Spirituality: 

What is it about human nature that compels us to choose a tribe? Whether it's a religion, a country, a department at work, ethnicity etc. The answer is simple.. we as human beings are looking for love. We give ourselves labels and belong to a group or as I call it 'tribe' because we want to feel that our presence matters, that we are loved, and maybe that our existence has made a difference in somebody's life. For example in a large corporation the marketing Dept is one tribe and the Accounting Dept another. Those within the marketing department supposedly understand each other and those within the accounting department understand each other. But sometimes both these tribes go against each other because of their different labels. However within both tribes there are people who still have the same values but they are so focussed on their labels and separation they don't consider the similarities that may bring them together. It's as if our egos don't want to admit that we are not so different from each other. My point is this... let's push ourselves beyond tribal thinking... Why settle for a small tribe when we can have a much more global outlook. My tribe is human beings. It doesn't matter what your outside looks like, what clothes you wear or what your so called job title is, I am interested in your heart and those beautiful eyes with which you look at the world. Within that tribe there are those who share similar values such as love, compassion, perseverance, hope and all that is SHERO. That being said for those whose values I do not share I am still able to learn something from. At the least I learn that I am not destructive and that I am constructive and on the right track. Within every human being there is the potential for light and dark... whatever we focus on expands... My focus is.. What a Wonderful World!

The Universe and Spirituality

SHERO on Spirituality: 

I speak of spirituality in the context of us being connected to each other and to the universe. Thus if we hurt someone we are in turn hurting ourselves. This is not a notion of sitting under a willow tree and singing Kumbaya and wishing the ailments of the world to go away. This is about the reality based on science that we are connected and share a universal energy as we share Hydrogen, Helium, Oxygen, Carbon and Nitrogen. In the words of my favourite Astrophysicist Dr. Neil Degrasse #neiltyson "Not only do we exist in the universe but the universe itself exists within us... When you look up at the night sky it's not that we are here and that's there, we are a part of that" If you ever feel disconnected and feel like you don't belong all you have to do is remind yourself of this fact. These elements that we share don't have a clue about race, nationality, beliefs. It's not just blood that we share in common it's every fiber of our being... the irony is that we think that one race is better than another, one gender has more rights than another, one country has more rights than another... When did we give ourselves the right to become so arrogant? Learning about the Universe doesn't make you an atheist, it should make you humble.

Connect.. it's in your DNA!

SHERO on Spirituality: 

The concept of Spirituality for a SHERO is not based on Religion. It is based on connecting and adding value to others. In a business environment what do you do to add value to yourself and add value to others at the same time? Machiavellian tendencies where the end justifies the means and that you must do whatever it takes to get to the top are not only destructive yet they disconnect you from people. If you help someone reach the top chances are you will reach the top with them. If you try to keep someone down you will remain down as well. In your personal life you must connect and add value to all those around you. Not one day a month when you volunteer in an organization but everyday. There is always someone in your sphere of influence that you can add value to.. whether with a simple hello, txt, note etc.... Do yourself a favour.. connect!
