To all those who are SHERO reading this today. Yes I am an Armenian-Canadian and with that comes a very rich history. Armenians commemorate the Genocide that occurred between 1915 - 1923 every year on April 24th. However, when I speak of Genocide I am not speaking of Armenians only.

In the January 2006 issue of National Geographic Magazine, Lewis M. Simons writes "More than 50 million people were systematically murdered in the past 100 yrs: From 1915 to 1923 Ottoman Turks slaughtered up to 1.5 million Armenians. In mid -century the Nazis Liquidated six million Jews, three million Soviet POW's, two million Poles, and 400,000 other "undesirables." Mao Zedong killed 30 million Chinese, and the Soviet government murdered 20 million of it's own people. in the 1970's the communist Khmer Rouge killed 1.7 million fellow Cambodians. In the 1980's and early '90s Saddam Hussein's Baath Party killed 100,000 Kurds. Rwanda's Hutu-led military wiped out 800,000 members of the Tutsi minority in the 1990s..." (Simons 28) and of course the genocide in Sudan's Darfur region.

Anytime a man or a woman raises their hand on another in order to push forward their belief that becomes the opposite of what we understand as Spirituality and Humanity. In this day and age there is no excuse or explanation for such atrocities no matter what the nation, race, culture, religion, gender or age.
The day will come when we realize that we are individual and unique and without us the picture is not complete... the day will come... all we have to do is change our BS!...

It is not with adoration, celebration and pride
On April 24th Armenians commemorate Genocide
It is not the fame that is claimed
For the 1.5 million who were once slain

It is to bring to light the darker side
Allowing humanity a chance to turn the tide
Whether Armenians or in Germany or Darfur
We all share the planet and have a role

We all have a choice
We all have a voice
Educate to prevent
Enlighten not repent

We honour Armenian brothers and sisters
So the world will learn and we will heal our blisters
Not to Armenians or anyone on this planet
Remembering the past so humanity can learn from it!

Rebecca speaks SHERO

Over 40 Armenian Relief Society members and supporters attended the launch of Rebecca Moradoghli's book "From Sheep to Shero; Transforming the face of Tribal BS"

The author of the book spoke to us about SHERO methodology and how it helps us in achieving our goals in life by being true to ourselves.

SHERO (Spirituality, Humanity Enlightenment, Responsibility and Opportunity) - This is the title of a new book written by Rebecca Moradoghli, a young Armenian woman from Vancouver. Rebecca's book is captivating: Where did our beliefs come from? Do they still serve us? The SHERO leadership methodology offers an alternative for old and worn out beliefs that may be holding us back. Her book will help us move forward in a way that will not only benefit us but also those around us. It will change the way we do things today and more importantly TOMORROW.

Her book seems to transcend generations; the guests raging in ages 23 to 82 found the book equally captivating, they called the author courageous, insightful, intelligent, deep, and even compared her to seasoned writers like MAYA ANGELOU. Overall as we all predicted when bunch of intelligent, beautiful and outspoken women get together the outcome is usually something incredible and that's what we had on the evening of APR 10.
